Apple is exploring the possibility of adding a core body temperature sensor to future Apple Watches.
Unlike the current skin temperature measurement, this sensor would determine the wearer’s core temperature, which typically requires invasive methods like using a medical thermometer in the mouth or ear.
The patent suggests using software to narrow down the reading by taking two measurements—one from the skin and another further away. If successful, this feature could make traditional thermometers obsolete.
The goal is to enhance health monitoring capabilities and provide more accurate data for users.
