Century Chase: Nissanka’s Knock Leads Sri Lanka to Level Series in 2nd ODI Against Bangladesh

In the second One-Day International (ODI) between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, Pathum Nissanka's remarkable century was the highlight of the match, leading Sri Lanka to a three-wicket victory. Nissanka's 114 runs off 113 deliveries, along with Charith Asalanka's crucial 91, enabled Sri Lanka to chase down the target set by Bangladesh.

The match, held under the floodlights, saw Sri Lanka electing to field first, a decision influenced by the dew factor that had played a role in their previous game. Bangladesh, led by captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, aimed for a total within the 280-300 range but were restricted by Sri Lanka's bowling attack, which included the new addition of Dunith Wellalage.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh were also rocked by the early dismissal of their opener Litton Das (0 off 3) in the first over itself. However, the innings was stabilized by Najmul Hossain Shanto (40 off 39) and Soumya Sarkar (68 off 66) with their 75-run stand for the second wicket.

The encounter was not only a display of batting prowess but also a testament to strategic field placements and bowling changes. With the series now evenly poised at 1-1, the final ODI is anticipated to be a decisive battle between the two cricketing nations.
